Guido's Ear  is an early music ensemble specializing in repertoire of the late Renaissance and early Baroque, a pivotal period in history where instrumental music emerged from the shadow of vocal music and came into its own.  Guido’s Ear presents engaging and accessible concerts that explore both the early forays into purely instrumental music and the vocal and dance traditions they come from, with a mission to bring the joy and excitement of this music to new audiences. The sheer ingenuity of music in this period is truly breathtaking, as composers pushed the boundaries of musical aesthetics to their breaking point and founded an entirely new musical style that formed the basis of musical composition for centuries to come.  Based in New York City, Guido’s Ear has performed at venues including the Strathmore Mansion,  Connecticut Early Music Festival, Vanderbilt University's Great Performances, Emory and Henry College, The City University of New York’s Graduate Center and Queens College.
